Owner/Teaching Artist
As a lifelong artist, I am often dismayed by others who feel they "cannot" draw or paint! I believe everyone has creativity within themselves, and along with that, an ability and a desire to express it. I knew that starting an art bar would be the perfect way for me to test my theory by sharing art, and it's profound effects on humanity, with a wide audience. As a Museum Teacher at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, I was trained to lead gallery tours using Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), a discussion based method of looking at art whereby museum visitors contribute observations and ideas on works of art, while respecting and learning from the perspectives of others visitors. I've worked in a variety of mediums including oil and acrylic paint, oil pastel as well as digital mediums. In 2000, I founded a graphic design studio, drawing upon my years as an in-house designer for various companies in Boston including Student Advantage and Sam Adams (Boston Beer Company). But alas, my most proud masterpieces are my two wonderful boys, Ian, 12 and Noah, 9, along with my husband Rob. lesliebelknerdesigns.com

Teaching Artist
I am a New Hampshire native that moved down to Boston in 2010 to explore the culture and fun that this amazing city has to offer. I studied painting at Plymouth State University, a school in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where my love for nature and landscapes developed throughout the years. Other than art, I am obsessed with roller coasters, making people laugh, and horror movies. My favorite color is orange and my favorite artist is Jasper Johns. And I also love my kitten named Jameson and my adorable fiancé Jacob.

Teaching Artist
Originally from Boston, I have been surrounded by art for as long as I can remember. Though I'm not formally trained, I have been painting for more than 20 years. I love to empower people to think creatively and teaching at Paint Corner allows me to do just that! By day, I'm a clinical researcher, and by night, I'm your painting friend! I look forward to creating art with you!

I never thought of myself as someone interested in art until my high school teacher encouraged me to take my work seriously.  Among many other things, she taught me that everyone is an artist if you put in some time and patience!  I spent more time drawing and painting in college, while also studying psychology and international studies.  In addition to being a part of the awesome team at Paint Corner, I work at a youth program in the South End, where I am continually inspired by the creativity and energy of young people!  I love teaching at Paint Corner because I learn something new about painting with every class!
